Stephen L. Bausch, Jr., 66, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, of cardiac arrest. Services were Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with Reverend Renee Luneman officiating. Interment is pending with immediate family.

Steve was born September 23, 1939, in a farmhouse in Conesville, Iowa, the son of Stephen And Adeline. He attended a rural school, Carson, and Columbus Junction High School, later he attended Faith Baptist Bible School in Camden, Missouri, graduating as Valedictorian in May of 1958. Steve was united in marriage to Carolyn Evans on April 6, 1958. They were later divorced.

Stephen farmed throughout his life in the Columbus Junction area, and later in Washington County. Farming was his passion as well as vocation, he enjoyed raising cattle and had a Black Angus cow/calf herd. As a child he loved to hunt and collect arrowheads on the home farm. Skiing was his favorite sport in winter and he traveled to Aspen, Colorado, many times.

Survivors include his children; daughter, Michelle Hannink and her husband, Douglas; son, Mark Bausch; daughter, Julia Finley and her husband, Tracy; son, John Bausch and wis wife, Carrie; his grandchildern, Alicia and James Hannink, Miranda Finley, and Emily and Chloe Bausch; his siblings, Hope Niffenegger, Ruth McConnell, Ron Bausch, Douglas Bausch, Lester Bausch, Gary Bausch, Joyce Johnson, Carol Chatfield, Marilyn Percy, Phillip Bausch, Jarrold Bausch, and Susan Sturgis; and his step-mother, Sarabelle Bausch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Lester Bausch, Sr. and Mae Adeline Bausch, and a brother, Lawrence.
