William Murphy Dies Early Friday
Conesville Resident Passes Away at Home of Daughter Here

William Riley Murphy, 80 year old resident of Conesville, Iowa died at 2 o'clock Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Crist. Mr. Murphy, who had retired from farming and had made his home in Conesville for the past 15 years had been in declining health for some time. Last Thursday it became evident that his condition was serious and he was induced to come to the Crist home here. He arrived here Thursday evening and passed away the following morning.

Brief funeral services conducted by Rev. E.F. Kimmelshue were held at the Pierce funeral home here with last rites being held at the Reformed Church in Conesville at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The services at the Conesville church and interment rites were in charge of Rev. Darrel Hart of the Morning Sun Free Methodist Church.

Obituary

William Riley Murphy, son of Thomas and Cornelia Murphy, was born at Streetor, Illinois on February 2, 1865, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leota Crist, in Morning Sun on August 17, 1945. He was married to Kate Sims on June 10, 1890 at Iowa City, Iowa. When a young man Mr. Murphy went to Nebraska where he lived for a time, later returning to Conesville where he spent the latter years of his life.

He is survived by two children, Mrs. Leota Crist of Morning Sun and Verle Murphy of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Evelyn and Kenneth Murphy of Milwaukee, Leroy Murphy, now a prisoner of the Japanese, and Weldon, Donald and Verle Crist, all of Morning Sun. Surviving also is one great-granddaughter, Janice Lee Crist, of this place.
