Memorial Services For Mrs. Bessie Holland Bates

A memorial service for Bessie Holland Bates, who died December 27, 1972, at San Mateo, California, will be conducted by Reb. Robert Winter Thursday, January 25, 1973, at 2:00 p.m. at Oakland Church, Morning Sun, Iowa. Interment of the cremated remains will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Mrs. Bates was the wife of Joseph Edgar Bates and lived in the Oakland Otter Creek Community for many years. She was born in Louisa County on December 29, 1884. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy B. Searls of Hillsboro, California. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Joseph and Ronald.

She was a member of the Sutter Methodist Church, Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, (the rest of this obituary is missing).
