Robert Jamison Dies on Iwo Jima
Former Local Boy Killed March 8Relatives here have received word that Robert Austin Jamison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jamison, was killed in action March 8 in the fighting on Iwo Jima. The twenty year old Marine, only child of the Jamison's was serving with the famed 5th Marines at the time of his death.
Born in Kewanee, Illinois, Robert lived for a time with his parents in Morning Sun and attended the grade school here. He was a graduate of the Crystal Lake, Illinois high school and was a student of Beloit College at the time of his enlistment. The father, Walter Jamison, is a nephew of Mrs. I.M. Jamison of this place.
