MORNING SUN, Iowa--Jerry Herbert Bashore, 77, of Morning Sun, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at Great River Medical Center, Burlington.

A memorial has been established at the funeral home.

Rev. Doresa Collogan will officiate.

Casketbearers will be James Miller, Brent Miller, Caleb Bashore, Ben Proctor, Nathan Bashore, Sean McNally, Jim Allen, Gene Morris, and Mark Culp.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Rites by the combined units of the VFW Post No. 1565, American Legion Post No. 27 and the Morning Sun American Legion. Following the services a time of food and fellowhip will be held at the Musserville United Methodist Church.

Jerry Herbert Bashore was born on Sept. 12, 1930, in Troy, Ohio, the son of Jacob Herbert and Mildred Drusilla (Streib) Bashore.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving in Korea and Japan.

On Aug.9, 1953, he was united in marriage to Delores Burns in Muscatine.

He was a member of the Morning Sun American Legion, the Musserville United Methodist Church in Muscatine and the Forresters.

He retired from Caterpillar Co., raised livestock and enjoyed farming. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Delores, Morning Sun; nine children, Cathryn Bashore, Mahtemedi, Minn., Mary Burke and her husband, Thomas, Muscatine, John Bashore and his wife Lori, Letts, Nancy Miller and her husband, Larry, Muscatine, Linda Bartenhagen and her husband, Jay, Muscatine, Laurie Ellis, Morning Sun, Joseph Bashore, and his wife, Christain, Goodyear, Ariz., Bobby Bashore and friend, Phyllis, Morning Sun, and Andy Bashore and his wife, Karen, Aurora Colo.; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, George Bashore, West Milton, OH, and Robert Lee Bashore of W. Covington, OH; four sisters, Doris Shuey, of Dayton, Ohio, Macky Patty of Otway, Ohio, Katey Brock and her husband, Russell, Dayton, Ohio, and Sue Gatling and her husband, Jim, of Plano, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Margaret LuAnne; two brothers, Joseph and Richard; one sister, Betty Jane Miller and one great-grandson, Quentyn Allen.
