Walder T. Bartenhagen Died Suddenly November 1

Walder Theodore Bartenhagen, a prominent farmer who lived two miles west of Grandview, died suddenly at 5:30 a.m. November 1, 1969, at his home of an apparent heart attack, at the age of 49 years, 3 months and 18 days.

He was born July 13, 1920, in the rural Letts area, the son of William and Emma Fredrick Bartenhagen.

On October 4, 1939, he married to Myrtle Hardman at Sigourney, Iowa.

He was a member of the Grandview Community Church and of the N.F.O.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Bartenhagen; one son, Carl of St. Louis, Missouri; three daughters, Mrs. Keith (Elaine) Grouwinkel of West Liberty, Suzanne, a student at Ames, and Joan at home; one brother, Henry Bartenhagen of Wapello; two sisters, Mrs. Keith Beik of Wapello and Mrs. Clifford Schmidt of Syosset, New York; and four grandchildren, Angela and Chad Gourwinkel of West Liberty and Michael and Katherine Bartenhagen of St. Louis.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Community Church Monday conducted by Rev. Walter Vesterfelt. Mrs. Richard Bieri was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. John Wallace and Mrs. Leon Thompson. Casket bearers were William Beik, Byron Young, Howard S. Young, Michael Snyder, Forrest Bartenhagen and Clarence Bartenhagen.

Burial was in the Grandview cemetery in charge of the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home.
