Thomas Bratton Dies Suddenly

Thomas Bratton, one of Keithsburg's citizens, died very suddenly last Sunday morning at 11:30 o'clock from heart disease. He had not been ill and his sudden death was a shock to all.

Deceased was born in Musingum County, Ohio, July 17, 1846; died at Keithsburg, Ills., Jan 12, 1908, aged 61 years, 5 months and 25 days. In 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Sisk, of Keithsburg, and they lived near that place until late years, which they spent in town. He is survived by his wife, five children, one brother, C.E. Bratton of Oakville, and one sister, Mrs. James McCall. The children are Mrs. May McCannon, of Davenport; Mrs. Maude Cooper, of Guttenberg, Mrs. Minnie DeLap, of Marshalltown; Walter, of Des Moines; Henry, of the U.S. Navy, and Arthur at home.

He served during the Civil War in Co. G, of the 124th Illinois regiment, and was honorably discharged in 1865.

The funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Benjamin, assisted by the G.A.R. Post, of which he was a member. Interment was in the Green Mound cemetery.
