Elmer Lee Andries, 87, Mediapolis, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at his residence. The son of Marion Carl and Mildred Estella York Andries, he was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Kingston. He attended the Huron School. He was a farmer and worked as a grain elevator operator at Meeker's Landing for 16 years. He was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church. He enjoyed farming, his animals, hunting and fishing, and helping people of all ages.

He is survived by a sister, Opah Hahn of Salem, Ore,; several nieces, nephews and their families; and a special friend, Henry Bowman of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Louise and Doris, four brothers, Art, Max, Martin and Gene.

Visitation was Thursday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Revs. Beth Briggs and H. Dick Reynolds officiating. Music was provided by John Zippe and Shirley McCord. Pallbearers were Art and Andy Fisher, Jack and Ron Steele, John, Gary and Larry Andries. Honorary bearers were Ed Hahn, Henry Bowman and Wes Gerst. Interment was in the Dolbee Cemetery.

A memorial was established for the Kingston United Methodist Church.
