Esther Harris Ball, age 63, Wapello, died May 21, 1998 at Mercy Hospital Plaza, Iowa City.

Born in Newton, GA, Nov. 9, 1934 to Benjamin and Agnes Sheffield Kimbrel, she married Robert Harris May 11, 1966; he died Oct. 29, 1976. She married Warren Ball on Dec. 23.

She farmed with her husband Warren and was part owner and operator of Harris Plumbing & Heating, Burlington.

Esther was affiliated with the Wapello United Methodist Church.

Survivors are her husband Warren; daughter Shirley Hopson, Burlington; son Jim Collins, Burlington; 4 grandchildren; her mother, Agnes Kimbrel, Arlington, GA; brothers and sisters Geneva Grooms, Amarillo, TX, Polly Ann Swearger, Albany, GA., Duane Cecere, Arlington, GA, Buck Kimbrel, Pharr, TX, Benny Kimbrel and Tony Kimbrel, both of Arlington, GA, Bobby Kimbrel, Sebring, Fla., and Gene Kimbrel, Buffalo, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband Robert Harris, and one brother.

Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Lunning Chapel, Rev. Dan Doolin officiating. Burial was in Long Creek Cemetery, Wapello, IA. Visitation was Monday at Lunning Chapel. The family met with friends at Lunning Chapel Monday evening.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society of Louisa County.
