Funeral services for Nelson E. Ball, 70, of Nichols, Iowa, were held on Tuesday, May 28, 1996, at 10:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Nelson died on Friday, May 24, 1996 at the University of Iowa Hospitals following a car accident in Muscatine a month ago. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Burial took place in the Letts Cemetery, Letts, Iowa.

Nelson Eugene Ball was born April 21, 1926, in Oak Grove, Missouri, to Oscar and Ruby Maxwell Ball. He married Donna Marie Black on June 11, 1950, in Letts, Iowa. Nelson had been a driver for Therm-Ice, Fruitland, until his retirement February 1, 1977. Nelson was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of the Muscatine Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge.

Nelson is survived by his wife, Donna, Nichols; two daughters, Ms. Cathy Hoyt, Nichols; Mrs. Tom (Kelly) Huggins, West Liberty; and a son, Darrel Ball, Nichols. There are six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Nelson had one brother, Don Ball, Columbus Junction; and four sisters, Annabell Kemp, Dixon, Missouri; Juanita Woods, Muscatine; Dorotha Kirchner, Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and Charlotte Jensen, Muscatine. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents.
