ALEDO, Ill.--Masonic services for Elbert A. Ball, 85, of Aledo, formerly of Taylor Ridge, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery.

Mr. Ball died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.

Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, is in charge of arrangements.

He retired in 1977 after six years in the maintenance department at the Centennial Bridge. Earlier, he had been a manager of Farmer's Elevator, Taylor Ridge, for 20 years, a deputy for the Rock Island county Sheriff's Department for two years, an owner of Ball Feed Store, Reynods, and was self-employed as a reflexologist for many years.

He was born Oct. 22, 1912, in Louisa County, Iowa, to Wilbur Davis and Nellie (Tindall) Ball. He married Jean Beresford on May 27, 1935, in Toulon. she died Aug. 11, 1993.

He was a 50-year member of Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge 679 A.F.& A.M. and a past master and a member of Scottish Rite and Coordinate Bodies Valley of Moline, Kaaba Shrine, Blackhawk Shrine Club, Horseshoe Bend Club, the Civil Air Patrol and Alcoholics Anonymous.

Memorials may be made to Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge 679 A.F. & A.M. or Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Wilson, Reynolds; sons and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jean Ball, Aledo, and Fred Ball, Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Linda Bertelsen, Monmouth, Ruth Lamour, Oak Park, Doug Ball, Aledo, Mary Kay Crawford, Reynolds, and Brooke Wilson, Reynolds;
nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilburta Winterlin, Bettendorf; and a brother, Loyal Ball, Grand Rapids, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Burdette and Raynard Ball, and a sister Betty Ohrberg.
