Marcella Asmus, 75, died Wednesday, January 7, 1987, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Latham of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wapello, officiated.

Organist was Nancy Hain and vocalist was Sheri Lowe. Pallbearers were Brian Lowe, Scott Lowe, Mark Lowe, Lisabeth Lowe, Teresa Chapman, Todd Krouth, Julie Arnold, Janine Arnold, and Jason Arnold. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.

Mrs. Asmus was born March 26, 1911, at Manning, the daughter of Chris and Marie Nuppnau Mohr. She was united in marriage to Fred Asmus on July 5, 1930, at Atlantic. She was a member of the church and the Letts Garden Club. Before her retirement in 1976, she had been employed at Thatcher Glass, Muscatine.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Anna) Lowe, Columbus Junction; Mrs. Gordon (Kathryn) Arnold, Wilton; Mrs. John (Genevieve) Humphreys, Columbus Junction; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Christian Mohr, Council Bluffs, and Kenneth Mohr, Minneapolis; and one sister, Mrs, Herman (Leona) Asmus, Middletown, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982, an infant son, three brothers, and two sisters.
