William H. Reddick

Muscatine Journal, April 8, 1940.

William H. Reddick, 59, a resident of Letts for the past 37 years, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday at Bellevue Hospital in Muscatine. Although in failing health for the past 10 years, he had been seriously ill for only a few weeks. Death occurred on his birthday.

Mr. Reddick was born April 8, 1881, at New Port, Ia., the son of W. H. and Rachael Stahl Reddick. He lived in Wapello and the High Prairie community before moving to Letts in 1903, where he operated the W.H. Reddick Cafe for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Letts Methodist Church.

Surviving beside the wife are three sons, David and Louie of Letts, and Arthur of Seneca, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Leona Altekruse of Muscatine, and six brothers, George of Elric Junction, Ia., Clark of Parker, Kas., Elmer L. of Morrisonville, Wis., Jack of Keosauqua, Ia., Frank of Iowa City, and Merritt of Chicago. His parents and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Frizzell, preceded him in death.

The body will be taken to the David Reddick residence at Letts later today, where it will remain until funeral services are held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Letts Methodist Church. The Rev. R.G. Alexander, Methodist pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. L.B. Foster, pastor of the Letts United Brethren Church. Interment will be in the Letts Cemetery.
