Evelyn Louise Petty, age 89, of Wapello, died Wednesday afternoon, May 28, 2008, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehad Center. The daughter of Raymond and Martha Johnson Malcom, she was born on May 5, 1919 at Oakville. She married Harold E. Petty on October 22, 1938 at Muscatine. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1991.

Evelyn graduated from Oakville High School. She was a homemaker and had worked in restaurants and had done some babysitting. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene at Wadspello.

She is survived by a son, Jeff & Marcia Campbell of Mediapolis; two grandchildren, Jason Campbell and Jodi Peitz; a great grandson, Tucker Peitz; a sister, Norma Perron of Burlington; and two brothers, Donald Malcom of Burlington and Wayne Malcom of Camanche. She was preceded in death by per parents; husband, Harold; a daughter, Alice; two sisters, Marcella and Estellene; and a brother, Eldon.

The funeral ceremony for Evelyn Petty will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello with Pastor Claude Perhealth officiating. Burial will follow at the Parsons Cemetery, rural Wapello. The family and friends will gather at the Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall following the committal for a lunch and fellowship.

The family will meet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday before the funeral at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefits of the Great River Hospice and the Church of the Nazarene.
