Thomas E. Axtell, 58, Letts, died suddenly at his home Saturday, July 28, 1984.

Services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Chapel with Rev. Clyde Hartman officiating. Organist was Mrs. Robert Schlutz. Casket bearers were Donald Watson, Donald Mills, Robert Mills, Russell Streets, Marvin Thomas and Raoul Wolf. Burial was in the Island Cemetery.

He was born August 16, 1925, at Muscatine, the son of Roy and Maude Clevenger Axtell. He married Ruth Ann Pendell November 29, 1952, at Wapello. Mr. Axtell was a veteran of World War II and was employed as a machinist at International Harvester Farmall for 35 years.

Surviving are his wife; three sons. John of Fredonia, Tommy D. and Randy of Muscatine; one daughter, Penny of Letts; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; four brothers, Raymond of Columbus Junction, Leo of Letts, Cleo and Harold, both of Muscatine; and four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Shock, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Saultz, Mrs. Violet Coulter, all of Muscatine and Mrs. Betty O'Haver of Davenport.
