Henrietta Lehnert

Henrietta Jane Lehnert, 81, of Mediapolis (Iowa) and formerly of Oakville (Iowa), died Monday morning, October 16, 2006, at her home. The daughter of Henry Clay and Maggie M. Walker Dean, she was born November 5, 1924, at Burlington (Iowa). She graduated from Sperry High School in 1943. She married Richard Robert Lehnert on January 2, 1945, in Cameron, Illinois. She was a homemaker and also helped at the hardware store for many years at Oakville.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Oakville and the United Methodist Women and Faith Circle.

Jane was an excellent quilter and enjoyed crocheting, painting, and making porcelain ceramics.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard Eugene Lehnert of Fort Collins, Colorado; a daughter, Lillian Louise Rassi of Oakville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude Gibson of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Laird Lehnert; ten brothers, Perl, Harold, Jesse, Clifford, Horace C., Grant, Delbert, Isaac, and two childhood brothers; and two sisters, H. Viola and Maxine.

The funeral service for Henrietta Jane Lehnert is to be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 19, at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis with the Rev. /sue Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery, rural Oakville.

Visitation was Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family met with friends in the evening.

A memorial fund was established for the benefit of Great River Hospice and St. Jude’s Hospital.
