Gertrude Jayne, 90, dies

Gertrude JAYNE, 90, a native of Oakville, died Sunday, November 1, 1987, at St. Francis Hospital, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Graveside services were held Monday, November 9, at 10 a.m. at the Edwards Cemetery at Oakville with Rev. Harold Werley officiating.

The former Gertrude Brown was born June 28, 1897, at Oakville, a daughter of Irvin and Harriet MOON-BROWN. Her marriage to Ralph JAYNE took place July 17, 1921, at Oakville. She was a member of teh United Methodist Church, LaGrange, Illinois, the PEO Chapter EW, LaGrange; and a 52 year member of the Federation of Women's Club, also of LaGrange.

She had been a social worker. She received her BA in 1920 and MA in 1955, both from the University of Chicago. She worked at the Jane Addams Hull House, Chicago, the Federal Emergency Relief Administration during the depression __ years, the YWCA in Chicago, the American Red Cross, and was a counselor for Western Springs, Illinois, public schools. She retired in 1969.

She had resided in Colorado Springs since 1981.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Barbara) Blake, Colorado Springs; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Ralph BROWN, Oakville; and two sisters, Geneva Anderson and Myrtle Jones, both of Burlington.
