Thomas Marion Guffey of Letts died Saturday evening December 23, 1972 at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 8 days.

He was the son of William and Elizabeth Fawyer Guffey and was born February 13, 1888 at Snow, Kentucky. He moved to Iowa in 1942 having lived in the Columbus Junction community prior to moving to Letts.

He married Cora Staton on December 28, 1917 at Snow, Kentucky. She died December 23, 1962. He married Josephine Hill on September 18, 1963 at Wapello. Mr. Guffey was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine Guffey of Letts; a son Howard Guffey of Moses Lake, Wash., two daughters Marion Ruth Liebbe of Davenport, and Mrs. Virginia Shumaker of San Francisco, Calif., a brother Porter Guffey and a sister Mrs. Laura Dorrsett, both of Albany, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stacy Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Elrick officiating. Miss Donna Belle Hughes was organist, Casket bearers were Charles Jenkins, Jim Thompson, David Seitz, Harry Van Delinder, Ernest Woods and Albert Starkweather. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.
