Dean Blint, age 78, of Oakville, Iowa, died Wednesday afternoon, June 30, 2004, at the Great River Medical Center at West Burlington, Iowa. The son of William and Nellie Donnelly Blint, he was born September 3, 1925 at Denmark, Iowa. He married Delpha Mae (Young) Kirkpatrick on April 2, 1977 at Denmark.

Dean was a farmer with the family farm in Denmark for many years. He later worked as a custodian for Anchor Metals in Ft. Madison and then after their move to Oakville in the 1980's he was part owner of the Skating Rink and currently the Oakville Tap.

He loved his old truck and his John Deere. He enjoyed helping at the sawmill and shop. Dean was known for his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Delpha; two daughters, Deborah Newsom of Oakville and Dianna & Walter Moyle of Mt. Pleasant; a son Douglas & Gail Kirkpatrick of Oakville; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd & Mary Kay Blint of Beloit, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Albert, Bill, Elmer, Ralph, Ray, and Donald; and three sisters, Doris Watznauer, Frances Martin, and Helen Goodwin.

The funeral ceremony for Dean Blint will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 3, 2004, at the United Methodist Church at Oakville, with Rev. Chris Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the Williamson Cemetery at Denmark.

The family will gather with friends for a lunch at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Oakville Community Building.

Friends may call from noon to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Rescue Unit and the Wapello Community Ambulance Service.

Music was provided by Sandy Winter as the organist and Jon Harris as the vocalist singing ‘Amazing Grace’. The casket bearers included Donnie Blint, Rick Blint, Ronny Blint, Larry Blint, Warren Blint, Gary Watznauer, Jerry Baldwin, and Jack Coleman. Honorary bearers were Tom Thornburg, Wayne Martin, Lester Hawkins, and Bill Beeding.
