D. Marilyn Barrick 1926 - 2006

D. Marilyn Barrick, age 79, of Wapello, Iowa, died Saturday morning, March 18, 2006, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center at Wapello. The daughter of Ray and Leona Littrell Schafer, she was born September 22, 1926 at Letts, Iowa. She married Stanley C. Barrick on August 22, 1949 at the Little Brown church at Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1982.

Marilyn graduated from Letts High School in 1944 and then A.I.B. Business School in Davenport. She worked at Parrish Oil in Wapello prior to her marriage. After her marriage she was a homemaker.

She was a 50 year plus member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello. She loved music (singing and piano), going for walks, sewing, crocheting and most especially her family.

She is survived by two sons, Bill & Kathy Barrick and Bob & Gale Barrick both of Wapello; five grandchildren, Jeremy & Sunshine Barrick of Muscatine, Carisa Barrick & Jason Cross of Cedar Rapids, Adam Barrick of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Brianne Barrick of Wapello, and Jacob Barrick of Wapello; two great-grandchildren, Keaton Barrick and Harmony Barrick both of Muscatine; a brother, Jim & Brenda Schafer of Mundelein, Illinois; and a sister, JoAnn & Herm Grosskrueger of Andrew, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; and a sister, Joyce Stedman.

The funeral ceremony for Marilyn Barrick will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello, with Rev. James H. Huston officiating. Burial will follow at the Letts Cemetery in Letts.

Friends may call from noon to 8:00 PM on Monday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello and the Hospice of Iowa City.
