C. Ruth Anthony, age 91, of Grandview, Iowa, died Monday morning, November 22, 2004, at her daughter's home. The daughter of Jesse and Maude Viola Wheeler Phillips, she was born November 2, 1913 at Grandview. She married Carl E. Anthony on January 21, 1935 at Grandview. He preceded her in death on November 15,1996.

Ruth had graduated from the Grandview Consolidated School in 1932. She was a homemaker and always put her family first. She was a member of the Grandview Community Bible Church since 1936 and had taught Sunday School for about 35 years. She also taught Vacation Bible School for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and crocheting.

She is survived by three daughters, Arlene & Ernie Albers of Grandview, Janice & Dick Brockett of Letts, and Wanda & Bob Gael of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Keith Anthony and Lyndal Anthony both of Cedar Rapids; fifteen grandchildren; and thirty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; a granddaughter Evelyn; two great-grandsons, Jonathan & Samuel; two sisters, Tess and Doris; and four brothers, Floyd, Verl, Lynn, and Lloyd.

The funeral ceremony for Ruth Anthony will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the Grandview Community Bible Church at Grandview, with Rev. Darryl Erickson officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Grandview Community Bible Church Mission Fund and the Iowa City Hospice.

Music will be provided by Wanda Funk as the pianist and Curt Henderson as the vocalist along with congregational singing. The casket bearers will be from the grandchildren, Wanda Funk, Teresa Heiling, Carol Smith, Marie Henderson, Peggy Waack, Sherril Gappa, Jeff Long, Rick Brockett, Leah Tomlinson, Tony Gael, Keily Donald, Krista Poorman, Erin Stokes, and Stephanie Archer.
