Pauline Frances Humiston, age 94, of Wapello, Iowa, died Tuesday afternoon, August 3, 2004, at the Great River Medical Center at West Burlington. The daughter of J. Byron and Sophronia G. Peck Crammond, she was born July 26, 1910 at Wapello. She married R. Paul Humiston on July 4, 1929 at Wapello. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1983.

Pauline graduated from Wapello High school in 1929. She was a homemaker for her family and had been known for baking a lot of cakes. She enjoyed needlework and cooking. She had won numerous blue ribbons at county and state fairs for her food and needlework entries.

She was the oldest member of the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello having been a member since 1924. She was also a member of the Delta Alpha of the church and had taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Louisa County Historical Society, the Midway Circle Club and the Oakland Social Club all fo Wapello.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlyne Gray of New London; three sons, Rex Humiston of Sperry, George Leonard Humsiton of West Des Moines, and Dale Humiston of Waukee; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; three sons, Harry, Phil, and Fred; a granddaughter, Jodi; a sister, Velma Warren; and two brothers, Harry Crammond and an infant brother Kenneth.

The funeral ceremony for Pauline Humiston will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 6, 2004, at the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello, with Rev. Mary N. Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at the Fulton Cairo Cemetery, rural Morning Sun.

Friends may call from noon to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the First Presbyterian Church and the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center.

Organ music was provided by Geneva Samuels with congregation hymns of 'The Old Rugged Cross' and 'In The Garden'.

The casket bearers included Dave Humiston, Alan Humiston, Mark Gray, Scot Humiston, Rick Humiston, Dan Humiston, Chris Meincke, and John Winger. Honorary bearers included Jim Humiston, Scott Gray, John Gray, Doug Humiston, Tony Humiston, Robert Humiston, Mike Humiston, Darin Humiston, Jay Winger, Tim Winger, Peggy McFarland, Pam Dies, Carol Smith, Sue Lachappel, Judy Phillips, Juli Humiston, Linda Birkhofer, and Lori Porstman.
