IdaBelle Buster 1919-2005

IdaBelle Buster, age 86, of Wapello, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, November 29, 2005, at the Great River Medical Center at West Burlington. The daughter of J. Craig and Stella Hutchcroft Dodds, she was born September 5, 1919 at Washington. She married Chan G. Buster on November 21, 1937 at Wapello. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1999.

IdaBelle moved to Mediapolis at the age of 2 and then to Wapello while in the seventh grade. She graduated from Wapello High School in 1936.

She worked as a postal clerk at the US Post Office at Wapello from September of 1936 until she retired in July of 1976. She then worked at the Farmers Elevator Farm Store and the office until 1981.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Wapello, the Wapello VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Indian Hills Golf & Country Club. She enjoyed golf, outdoor activities, and liked to garden as did her husband. They enjoyed spending their winters in Mission, Texas for twenty years.

She is survived by her sister, Leota & Jack Thomas of Lansing, Kansas; nieces and nephews including, Susan Thomas of Lansing, Kansas, Sara & William Marion of Overland Park, Kansas, Shelley Thomas of Suwanee, Georgia, Carolyn & Dave Thompson of Grandview, Merwin & Judy Buster of Eustace, Texas, and Carl & Pat Buster of Bettendorf; and several great-nieces & nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chan; her parents; a sister, Mary Lou Millspaugh; a nephew, Steven Thomas; and a niece, Marilyn Van Amerongen.

Her body has been cremated.

The funeral ceremony for IdaBelle Buster will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 3, 2005, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello, with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating.

The family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the United Methodist Church at Wapello, the Wapello Rescue Unit, or the Wapello Community Ambulance Service.
