Kyle Cummings Wilson, age 82 of Morning Sun, died Monday, November 3, 1997 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The son of Elmer and Clara Elizabeth (Cummings) Wilson, he was born October 6, 1915 at Batavia.

On October 23, 1935 he married Mary Griffith at Morning Sun; she died April 23, 1994.

He was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School, a member of the Morning Sun United Methodist Church, and was a self-employed building contractor.

He was well known in this area for his love of animals, horses, and participation in parades. He was honored as the Morning Sun Citizen of the Year for 1997.

Survivors include 1 son, David Kyle Wilson, Wapello; 1 daughter, DeAnne Lindholm, Phoenix, Arizona; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Cecil Wilson of Port Byron, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Visitation was Wednesday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, where the family met with friends in the evening.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 1997 at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thelma Subramanian officiating. Geneva Samuels, organist, and Brian and Kristie Cummings, vocalists. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery. Casket bearers are Darick Wilson, Dow Lindholm, Mike Crawford, Brad Griffith, Sam McDonald and Kent Wollenhaupt.

Memorials have been established for the United Methodist Church of Morning Sun, and the Morning Sun 4th of July Association.
