Tuesday evening two of Wapello's prominent young people, Miss Beulah Viola Downs and Mr. Ray C. Hammond, were united in marriage at the home of the bride in this city. The ceremony was pronouced at eight o'clock sharp by Rev. C. E. Coggeshall of the First Methodist Episcopal church. Only the immediate relatives of the couple were present. Immediately following the ceremony a two course wedding supper was served.

Mrs. Hammond, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Downs, is an estimable young lady, and was a Junior in high school this year. She enjoyed the friendship and esteem of a large circle of acquaintances, who wish her much happiness in her new capacity as the guardian and keeper of a home.

The groom is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Hammond of this city, who since his graduation from high school last year has become an industrious and efficient barber in J.A. Friend's barbershop. He is a young man of sterling worth and integrity, who has proved himself honest, upright, prompt and reliable, and is greatly liked throughout the community.

The newlyweds left on the late train Tuesday evening for Clay Center, Kansas, where Mr. Hammond will conduct a barbershop in partnership with his brother Howard.

The Republican joins with their friends in extending best wishes for much success and happiness.
