The pretty country home of Mrs. Ruth Stephens south of Grandview, was the scene of a happy gathering Friday, when a number of relatives called unannounced to spend the day, the occasion being her sixty eighth birthday anniversary.

At noon a dinner which left nothing in the way of good things to be desired, was served. The table was centered with a large angel food cake adorned with sixty-eight lighted tapers.

Those present were Mrs. Ruth Stephens, Chester Stephens and son Meryl, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stephens, Mrs. George Cocklin of Grandview, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McLaughlin, Mr. and Mrs. John McChesney, Mrs. George Potter, Mrs. William Archibald, Mr. and Mrs. James Guthrie, Gladys, Marion Guthrie, and Leslie Rogers, of Wapello, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Utter of Muscatine.
