Last Friday night at the parsonage of the First M.E. church occurred the marriage of Miss Bertha I. Torode to Harley J. McCulley, two of the finest young people of this vicinity. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C.E. Coggeshall at 8 o'clock in the presence of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiederrecht, the latter a sister of the bride.

While the bride and groom have known each other a long time, the event came as rather a pleasant surprise to their numberous friends. Mrs. McCulley is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Torode who reside on a farm east of Wapello. She is a graduate of the Wapello high school and was a student at the Iowa State Teachers' College, Cedar Falls for one term. She is a young lady who has many accomplishments and a host of friends. Mr. McCulley is also a graduate of the local high school and is a quiet young man of exemplary habits. He is the son of D.C. McCulley, a prominent farmer living north of Wapello, and is himself successful in farming.

The young couple will occupy the late Geo. Vibber farm near Grandview, where they will be at home after March 20th. The Republican joins their friends in wishing the happy couple abundant success.
