Mike Carrigan returned to Wapello yesterday after an absence of seven years from the old home. Since leaving Wapello he has been around the world and has seen the sights and smelled the smells of many climes and is looking well, as if the world had smiled on his pathway and the "devil and the deep sea" had been alike propitious.

He went from Iowa to Los Angeles, Cal., where he took a course in the university and entered upon the practice of law with a reputable firm of that city. In a consultation with some wealthy clients he became interested in the rubber industry in the Phillipines and finally decided to connect himself with the U.S. civil service in the islands, at the same time looking up the matter of concessions in the interest of parties who are engaged in the rubber industry. The position is a good one and the opportunites for travel have been improved during his residence in the Philippines. He has visited Australia, Borneo and other South Sea islands, and has just completed a tour of the world by way of Singapore, island of Malacca, Indian ocean, Red sea, Suez canal, Mediterranean sea, Italy and other continental countries: he also visited Ireland, the home of his ancestors, and "kissed the Blaney Stone." It has been a great experience. His old friends are glad to welcome him back and to know of the continued good fortune that seems to have fallen to his lot in the league of life with fate. He will spend a month with old home folks and return to the Phillippines some time in July.
