Last Tuesday the pleasant and commodious country home of Mr. and Mrs. George Beik was the scene of a merry quilting bee. Nearly one hundred neighbors gathered and spent the day in quilting and social converse and all enjoyed themselves to the utmost, both old and young. About noon the intellectual feast followed, while an abundance of fancy cakes, pudding and pies were the lastest styles of the culinary art, and there was no end to the deserts, salads, fruits, fancy meats, etc., which Mrs. Beik knows exactly how to prepare. The tables were laden in a manner to satisfy the most exacting epicure. Music, both vocal and instrumental, was furnished by Miss Jessie Cocklin, Miss Lizzie Beik and the Misses Foxwell, which was appreciated. Late in the afternoon the guests departed for their homes, all wishing the day had been longer.
