Dickerson Family Enjoys Big Reunion at S.H. McGill Home Southeast of Grandview - Sixty-five Relatives Enjoy the Day at Hospitable Home. Big Dinner at the Noon Hour - One of the Really Big Reunions.

The Dickerson reunion, one of the largest reunions held in this vicinity each year, took place last Sunday, Sept. 12, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S.H. McGill, about a mile southeast of Grandview, on the Grandview-Wapello road. About 65 of the relatives were present and the ladies lived up to their reputation at the noon hour by preparing a meal that was as fine as you ever saw or ate. Fine cooking and lots to eat is one of the strong points among the women of the Dickerson family, and that point was certainly embellished Sunday. In the afternoon the children played games and perpetrated numerous pranks, while the older folks conversed and ate watermelon to their heart's content. It was with lamentation that the happy gathering broke up, for the pretty home and the excellent hospitality of the McGills made it a pleasure to be there and caused the desire for a longer stay.

One of the Dickerson boys, John, celebrated doubly, that day also being his birthday.

The relatives came from far and near, via automobile, carriage and train and all were there with the sisters, Mrs. F.B. Riggs, of Clarence, Iowa, and Mrs. Sarah Teets, of Grandview. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Stineman and son Abner, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fisher and daughter, Loraine, all of Muscatine; Mr. and Mrs. E.S. Stineman and three children of Seymore, Iowa; Lem Dickerson and two sons, Earl and Lon, of east of Letts; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dickerson and daughters, Gladys and Ethyl, Mr. and Mrs. Royce Dickerson, all of Grandview; Mr. and Mrs. Fay R. Letts and five children and Miss Kate Spencer, of west of Grandview; Mr. and Mrs. Roy McGill and seven children, of Fruitland; Mr. John Dickerson, of near Letts; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hardman, of Grandview; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thompson and six children, of near Fruitland; Miss Ninette Teets, of Grandview; Mr. and Mrs. S.H. McGill and two sons, Jesse and Reuben, at home.

It was not decided where the reunion will be held next year, but there will one as is the custom, and all will look forward to it as one of the red letter days of their lives.
