SHE ATE POISON

Wapello, Ia., Jan. 16, Journal.

what might have resulted seriously had not skilled nursing been at hand occurred Saturday when little Garnet, the 16 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. P. McGrew, who are at present residing in the John Guthrie property in North Wapello, was playing about the house and without the knowledge of the mother found a cup in which there were a number of morphine tablets. The baby thinking perhaps that the tablets were candy swallowed a number of them. The mother when it was to late to prevent the child from swallowing them discovered the cup and understood what the child had done. She sent for a doctor and everything that could be done to prevent the little one from going to sleep was resorted to. After several hours of tossing and walking, the doctor in attendance pronounced the child better, and out of danger. She is doing nicely at the present time.
