Betty Kerr Allen, 88, Tonganoxie, KS, died Monday June 13, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS.

Betty was born on March 6, 1923 in Morning Sun, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Amanda Casten Kerr. She was united in marriage to Ralph D. Allen on December 26, 1944 in Wapello, IA. She worked as a registered nurse and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Tonganoxie.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph D. Allen, of the home; son, Dean (Debbie) Allen, Tonganoxie; and two grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Tonganoxie Christian Church. Cremation followed and a funeral will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery. Following the burial the family and friends will gather at the Briggs Center in Wapello for a lunch and visiting.

A Memorial Fund is established to benefit the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello.
