Maternal Ancestors at Linn County

Maude Mae/May Allen, born 1885 in Missouri, died Jan 1965 at Linn Co., IA, was my maternal grandmother. She told me when I was very young that her father was named Adolphus Collier/Collyer Allen and that he was also known as 'Dolph' Allen, and as A. C. Allen. She also told me that he 'came out of an orphanage in Missouri', and that he had one sister. According to my grandmother, Adolphus' wife was named Laura Whiting, descended from a New Hampshire family. I remember that Adolphus & Laura had another daughter, Bonnie Belle, who married Clifford Larsen/Larson, both now deceased. I believe that Adolphus and Laura also had several sons who lived in Iowa during the 1920's, but do not know for sure, nor do I know any of their names. Had it not been for g'mother telling me the name of her father, I would be completely stymied because I have never found a single reference to him, nor do I have birth dates, death dates, parents or siblings for either of them.

I obviously need help with these lines and will greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who knows anything of any of them, and most certainly from any relatives, persons with copies of old photos, old letters, etc.. Thank you.
