My Grandfather JOHN WILLIAM SIEGEL was born on 1 April 1893 in Anamosa Jones County Iowa. His father was John SIEGEL and his mother was Mary Katharina WIDMANN. His parents married 19 November 1890 in Cedar Rapids Linn County Iowa. His mother remarried Preston COOK in Cedar Rapids Linn Iowa on 4 December 1897. I am attempting to discover what happened to John's father. I have been unable to find any record of him. He was apparently born in 1864 in Wuerttemberg Germany. I have been unable to locate any information on his life. Would love some suggestions of how to find him in Anamosa or in Cedar Rapids? Anyone know what German Lutheran Churches were around pre 1893? I have never been able to locate my Grandfather John William Siegel's birth records. Thanks for your feedback. Ann
