Services Held Here On Sunday for Mrs. Sherman Thompson

Mrs. Sherman Thompson, a resident of Marion for nearly fifty years, died Saturday morning at her home, 1123 Ninth street. She has been an invalid for a great man years, and had lately been confined to a wheel chair.

As Effie Anne Roberts, she was born June 4, 1866, the daughter of Alsirus and Isabel Roberts at Morningside[sic].

In early life she joined the Free Methodist church. She was married Dec. 17, 1884, to Sherman Thonpson[sic]. The family a year later moved to Marion where she had since lived except for two years spent in Isabel, S.D. She had been an invalid for twenty-five years and confined to a wheel chair for five years. She leaves three daughters: Mrs. Ida Burgess, Mrs. Ada Stinson and Mrs. Alice Munday, and one son, Warren, all of this city, twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. James Bingaman, of Purdy Ia. and one brother, Prof. William Roberts of LaJunta, Colo. Mr. Thompson died four years ago.

Funeral services were held at four o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Yocum chapel, with the Rev. H.M. Williamson, pastor of the Free Methodist church, in charge. Four grandsons, Marvin and Warren Mundy, and Ulys and Harlan Larson, served as pall bearers. Interment was in Oak Shade.
