Last rites for Sylvester P. Vandeberg, 84, were held at St. John's Catholic church, Mt. Vernon, Jan. 16 with burial in the Lisbon cemetery. Mr. Vandeberg died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Jan. 12 following a long illness.

Born at Danvers, Minn. April 18, 1897, he was married to Esther Eldstrom of Appleton, Minn. Dec. 18, 1918. They moved to the Mt. Vernon-Lisbon area in 1928. He retired from farming near Lisbon in 1974.

He is survived by his wife; 4 daughters, Mrs. Grover (Irene) Miehe, Monticello; Mrs. Melvin (Jean) Oldorf, Stanwood; Mrs. Leonard (Marjorie) Haylsett, Tipton and Mrs. John (LaVonne) Bova, Lisbon; a sister, Mrs. Francis Udy, Williston, N.D.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
