On the 20th day of April, 1871, Charles Putnam, infant son of H. H. and F. E. Rood, aged 1 year, 6 months and 2 days.

Little Charlie was a pet and favorite of all who knew him, but fondly and tenderly beloved as he was by his parents and family, yet a higher love called him to that "house not made with hands."

The bereaved parents have our sympathy in this sore affliction, the weight of which cannot be conceived by hearts that has not passed under this dark cloud.
