PRAIRIEBURG - Mrs. Mathias (Frances) Lawrence died Saturday evening Jan. 17, at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Prairieburg. Rev. Richard R. Krapfl, Blairstown, and Rev. Richard Kuhn, Central City, conducted the services. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Donald, Richard, David, Loris, Marcus and Robert T. Lawrence, jr.

She was born March 7, 1889, daughter of Michael and Mary Vacek Lasack, Oxford Junction. She married Mathias Lawrence of Prairieburg, Jan. 26, 1909, at Sacred Heart church in Oxford Junction.

Couple farmed southeast of Prairieburg where they lived until retiring and moving to town 12 years ago. They also ran a grocery store in Prairieburg several years.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Wesley G., Coggon; Robert J., Monticello; and Carl at home; a brother, Henry Lasack, Oxford Junction, 26 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Harry and Linhart; a brother, John Lasack; a sister, Julia, Mrs. John Lawrence; and one granddaughter.
