Robert was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Ironton, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Rosemary (Lawless) Zaiger. He was a 1964 graduate of Audubon High School and went on to attend Tech School in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1976, Robert was united in marriage to Shirley Smith at the Methodist Church in Marengo, Iowa. He loved to travel, the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time with his friends and family. Robert will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Zaiger; children, Michelle (Darrick) Chadima of Fairfax, Iowa, Shane (Stacy) Zaiger of Marion and Adrienne Zaiger of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Arik (Miranda) Chadima, Miriam (Max) Moore, John, Samuel, Titus Chadima, and Keely and Kenzie Zaiger; and siblings, Les and Dorothy Blair of Marshalltown, Iowa, Earl and Mary Ring of Houston, Texas, and

Allen Zaiger of the Philippines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Dorothy Zaiger.

Robert Zaiger, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the funeral home.
