Robert “Bob” C. Petersmith, 68, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. A visitation with Bob’s family will take place at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories from 1:00-3:00 on Friday, April 29 followed by a memorial service at 3:00. Bob was born on September 14, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard L. and Betty J. (Davenport) Petersmith. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Mary M. O’Brien on May 19, 1979, at Squaw Creek Park in Marion, Iowa. Bob retired after 38 years from Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids in 2013. Bob was immensely proud of his Naval service. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching old westerns. Bob loved being a proud grandpa.

Survivors include his wife of forty-two years Mary of Cedar Rapids, sons Curtis Petersmith (fiancée Michelle Ruhs) of Palo, Cory Petersmith of Cedar Rapids, and Bryan Petersmith (fiancée Kate Peiffer) of Hiawatha, grandchildren Jaelyn, Alex, Aria, Quinten, and Everly, sisters Ellen (Rex) Smith of Cedar Rapids, Susan Kelsey of Columbus, Indiana, and Mary Kristen Howe of Shell Beach, CA, and brother Richard (Jodi) Petersmith of Cedar Rapids.

Preceding him in death were his parents Richard and Betty Petersmith.

Memorials may be directed to St. Luke’s Hospice in Cedar Rapids.
