James “Jim” Marvin Hamilton, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed peacefully March 16, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Jim was born on January 18, 1934, to Leonard and Dorothy (Douglas) Hamilton in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1952, he then went on to Coe College. He was proud to be a member of the Kohawks Football team. He graduated from Coe College in June 1956 and then went on to the University of Iowa where he graduated with his doctorates in 1960. He gave two years of service to the United States Air Force. During his active-duty years, Jim and Mary spent their time at Malstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. He married the love of his life Mary Dewey on August 4, 1956, and together they had three children. He returned to Cedar Rapids to begin his dental practice with Dr. Fran Wells. He opened his solo practice in 1964 up until his retirement in 2007. Jim and Mary moved to Florida, and it was there where he became a big fan of golf.

Jim is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Mary Hamilton; his daughter, Susan (Tim) Horne and their daughters Lauren and Kate; his sons, Tom (Karen) Hamilton and their children Ryan, Mike, and Mia; and Bob Hamilton and his children Chelsea, and Cale; great grandchildren Crew and Grayson.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
