Carol Mae Hepner, 76, of Marion, Iowa, passed away at her home on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, 2424 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. Cedar Memorial is entrusted with the arrangements.

Carol was born in Cedar Rapids on March 17, 1945, the daughter of Vernon and

Helen (Roseberry) Sillick. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and was a valuable and dedicated employee of Rockwell-Collins for many years, fulfilling many different roles. Above all of that, she was dedicated to her family and her friends.

Anyone who knew Carol can tell you that her grandchildren were the absolute apples of her eye. She always went above and beyond to attend their games, concerts, plays, graduations and any activity she could. She was devoted to assisting her twin grandchildren with Autism. She tirelessly drove them to therapy appointments and provided emotional and financial assistance whenever she could. She refused to put herself above others at any time. One of her favorite things was hosting Christmas Eve at her house and decorating for her family. Her giving heart knew no bounds and she brought sunshine into all our lives when we needed it the most.

Carol is survived by her mother, Helen Sillick of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister, Ardis Sillick of Iowa City, Iowa; two brothers, Kevin Sillick and Brian Sillick, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter, Teresa (Mike) Bailey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Scott Hepner of Center Point, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Johannah Montoya of Marion, Iowa; and nine grandchildren, Anthony, Jace, Dominic, Austin, Tyler, Skylar, Logan, Aiden and Michael.

She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon; and brother, Allen.
