CAROL JEAN DRAHOZAL Wheaton, Ill. Carol Jean Drahozal, 83, of Wheaton, Ill., passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 3, 2021, and joined her beloved husband in eternal paradise. She was born Sept. 7, 1937, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Lucille (Boyenga) Canfield. The family lived in Waterloo and Iowa Falls, then moved to Cedar Rapids in 1950. Carol graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids in 1955. On Dec. 27, 1958, she married Edward Drahozal, the love of her life, in Cedar Rapids. She was a devoted wife, mother and companion. They enjoyed 59 years together, moving from Cedar Rapids, to Jefferson, Iowa, to Iowa City, Iowa, to Framingham, Mass., and back to Iowa City, before finally moving to Wheaton, Ill., in 1983. As her family moved around the country, Carol held numerous positions, including selling Avon and Tupperware; switchboard operator, cashier and model at the prestigious Jordan Marsh Department Store; cosmetics manager at Drug Town; and being a lead home decorating consultant at JC Penney in the Chicago area. Carol enjoyed many hobbies including playing the piano, singing, playing bridge, sewing, canning, cooking and baking. She is well known for her cookies, cakes and pies, but mostly for her cinnamon rolls known as "Rollies." As a founding member of St. Daniel's Church, Carol sang in the choir, was a cantor during services and served on the social committee. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, socializing with their many friends and his Army buddies, and especially spending time with her beloved family. Carol is survived by sons, Steven (Laura) Drahozal, Mike Drahozal and Kevin (Catherine) Drahozal; daughter, Karen (Howie Bird) Drahozal; grandchildren, John and David Manning, Grace, Lucie and Anna Drahozal; brothers, Ted Elson-Canfield and Tim Canfield and sister, Cathy Canfield-Jepson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Drahozal; her parents, Kenneth and Lucille Canfield; and brother, K. Donald Canfield. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, Ill. A second visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m.. Monday, Aug. 9, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church, 211 21st Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Kenneth Glaser. Immediately following the services, interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery. May her soul live in everlasting peace.
