Judge Charles J. Haas, 81, Marion, district court judge for this circuit until his retirement in 1942, died Wednesday, July 17, at a Cedar Rapids hospital.

Funeral service was held Friday and burial made at Mount Clark cemetery, Central City.

Judge Haas, Linn county attorney for nearly 50 years, is survived by a brother, Frank Haas, Omaha, Nebr., and a niece, also of Omaha.

He served as city attorney and county attorney before being appointed to the bench in 1937 following the death of Judge A. B. Clark. He served out the term and was elected for a new term in 1939.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic lodges.
