Jon Joseph Wacha, 47 of Huxley, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Huxley. Graveside Services: 1 p.m., Saturday, at St. Patrick Cemetery, Fairfax, by Rev. Mark Murphy. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation are assisting the family.
Jon is survived by his son Ryan, of Huxley; parents, Stan and Sharon Wacha; sister, Jodi Wacha; nephew, Brock Wacha all of Cedar Rapids; aunts and uncles Don and Mary Stallman, and Harry and Jo Schrader, all of Cedar Rapids, and Donald Wacha and Bill and Virginia Safely of Tama, and; many cousins.
Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis and Evelyn Stallman and Richard and Lillian Wacha and his aunts and uncle JoAnn Schrader and Gary and Kathleen Bassler.
Jon was born on August 6, 1973 in Cedar Rapids, son of Stanley and Sharon Stallman Wacha. He graduated from Prairie High School in 1991 and attended Kirkwood Community College. He entered the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 1994 and was a police officer for more than 20 years before retiring from the Lake Mills Police Department. He was employed by Karl Chevrolet in Webster City where he enjoyed selling his favorite Chevys.
Jon loved his son, was a wonderful person, and will be missed by his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and loved deer hunting with his bow and shotgun. He and his buddies would hunt Tama County every season and get a lot of deer. He also enjoyed farming and mowing. In the Fall and Spring you could find him in the fields, and in the summer on the lawn mower. He loved NASCAR. When he could not attend a race he would watch his favorite driver, Carl Edwards on television.
