Funeral service for Mrs. Mary McManus Young, 82, was held Monday at St. John's Catholic church in Lisbon, Rev. Goodman officiating. Body rested at the home of her son, Frank Young, Mount Vernon, following her death Saturday, Jan. 27, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. E. Grafft in Cedar Rapids. Burial was at the Lisbon cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons, John Sievers, Pvt. Gene Sievers, Ward Swift, Willard Albaugh, Walter Hurt and Dick Zenishek.

Mary McManus was born in Ireland, Feb. 12, 1862. She came to Iowa in the United States with her parents at the age of seven years. Family settled near DeWitt where she spent her girlhood. She was one of a family of eight, all of whom preceded her in death.

In 1886 she married Charles J. Young, Dayton, Ohio, at DeWitt. Nine children were born to the union, one of whom died in infancy.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Silvers, Olin; Mrs. Daisy Albaugh and Mrs. Jennie Zenishek, Mechanicsville; Mrs. Leona Swift, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Annabelle Woods, Mount Vernon; three sons, James B. Young, Cedar Rapids; J. Frank Young, Mount Vernon, and Charles W. Young, Mechanicsville; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
