David W. Bowser, 79, of Marion, passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness with his family by his side on Monday, May 3, 2021. A private family service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for David Bowser, under the video tab starting at 1 p.m. Monday. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required. David was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Virgil (Bud) and Eleanor (Lochner) Bowser. He was united in marriage to Joyce Baker. They later divorced. On July 18, 1982, he married Linda Vance. Dave will be fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity and dedication to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dave is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Vance; a son, Tim (Brenda); daughterm "Teri" Legler (John); son, Christopher; sonm Larry David Vance (Danielle); daughterm Tami Vance Brissee (Eric); brother, Gordon (Lynn); sister, Jan Gilmore (Jack); seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and a brother, Michael. David's family would like to give a heartfelt thanks for the care from the physicians and staff of the Mayo Clinics and Hospital in Rochester, Minn., and the nurses and staff of St. Luke's Hospital. A special thanks goes to the UnityPoint Hospice nurses and caregivers for their dedication and compassionate end of life care. Memorials may be directed to HACAP-Food Reservoir Program, the American Diabetes or an organization of your choice to honor David.
