JAMES "JIM" JOSEPH WALDERBACH Cedar Rapids James "Jim" Joseph Walderbach, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields are required. A service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, with Terry Van-Wyk officiating. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for James Walderbach, under the video tab starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 15. Inurnment at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Jim was born on June 11, 1932, in Anamosa, Iowa. He is the son of the late William and Teresa (Fluckiger) Walderbach. On Feb. 26, 1971, Jim married Donna Walters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. James was a Veteran in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. Jim worked at Square D for many years as a spray painter. Jim enjoyed collecting Hot Wheel Cars and also attending Hot Wheel races. Jim was an avid fan of the outdoors. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much so that they gave Jim a special nickname, "Great-Grandpa Hot Wheels". Jim devoted a lot of time to the Boy Scouts while his children were a part of the troop. Those left to cherish Jim's memory are his wife, Donna; his children, Charles "Chuck" Walderbach of Texas, Mary Shriver of Texas, Debra Pazour, Kurt Walderbach, Craig Walters of Iowa and Joseph (Ramona) Walters of North Carolina; granddaughter, Samantha Schultz; nephews, Ray, John and Dewayne; his partner-in-crime, Aries the dog; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jesse Walters and William Walderbach; as well as a daughter, Arlene Walderbach. Memorials may be directed to the family. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Oldorf Hospice House for all of the care and support they showed to Jim while he was in their care.
