Alvin P. King, 73, life long resident of Marion and Linn county, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry G. Fox, 387 Fifth avenue, Marion, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 2, Monday, May 20, at the Yocom Chapel with the Rev. Frank H. Ward officiating. The pallbearers were Albert Elmer, Walter and Darrell King. Interment was in the Oak Shad cemetery.
Mr. King was born August 24, 1872, in Bertram township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alphus King. On Jan. 5, 1905, he married Annie Belle Miller in Marion. Mrs. King passed away Dec. 5, 1941. He was a brick mason by trade. Mr. King was a member of Linn Aerie No. 2438 F.O.E.
Mr. King is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Carmelita Fox; two grandchildren, Harry Alvin Fox and Robert John Fox, all of Marion; two brothers, John H. King of Marion and Henry King of Santa Barbara, Calif.
A daughter, Winifred, passed away on June 29, 1926 and another daughter, Dora Louise passed away on Aug. 14, 1927.
