James A. Pringle, 69, well known Milwaukee railroad passenger conductor, died at his home, 412 Fifth avenue, Friday at 5:10 p.m. Mr. Pringle had been in failing health for six years, making his last run Dec. 17. He had been bedfast seven weeks.
The son of George and Esther Pringle, he was born in Rochester, N.Y., Jan. 7, 1867. He came west at the age of 16, and at the age of 22 entered the employ of the Milwaukee railroad as a brakeman. Two years later he was promoted to passenger conductor, serving in that capacity for 44 years.
He was married to Elsie Briggle Dec. 28, 1891. Mr. and Mrs. Pringle began housekeeping at Perry, where they lived for many years. They also resided a few years at Farley and moved to Marion sixteen years ago. Two sons were born to them, James Ward Pringle, who died March 28, 1925, and Donald Pringle, of Mount Vernon.
Mr. Pringle was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors and of Trojan lodge, No. 548 A.F. and A.M.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Donald Pringle of Mount Vernon, five grandchildren, three sisters, Miss Ella Pringle, Miss Esther Pringle, both of Rochester, N.Y.; Mrs. Fred Ledyard of Pultneyville, N.Y.; and one brother, William H. Pringle of New York City.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Yocom chapel. the Rev. W.E. Fisher, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will officiate and Trojan lodge, No. 548 A.F. and A.M. will be charge. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
